20 Apr “Define the New Normal” Personal project started
The Covid-19 global pandemic has been called the Great Pause. It has given us an opportunity to see our effects on the environment and has thrown a spotlight on inequities in virtually every culture around the world. It also provides a window of opportunity to change our collective behaviour if we feel that it is important enough to do so. There will be a great amount of internal and external pressure to get back to normal, despite the fact that our normal way of living may have helped to precipitate this tragic event. Many are viewing this event as an opportunity to re-evaluate our societies across the globe. I am developing a series of thirty photographs which will be released once a day for thirty days this early spring.
The images will be released with the subject’s answer to one interview question: “As we collectively redefine the new ‘normal’ and rebuild, what would you like to see as the primary institutional change in society?”
I’m asking a wide variety of people this question, and hoping to have some insightful answers to go with the portraits!
